In Chinese, L. rhinocerotis is called “hu-ru-ling-zhi” and the word “ling-zhi” means Ganoderma lucidum. The two kinds are both highly-valued traditional medicinal mushrooms. Lignosus rhinocerotis mycelium is also known as “Tiger-milk Mushroom” or “cendawan susu rimau”. L. rhinocerotis is produced by submerged fermentation. Fermented mycelium is rich in polysaccharides and proteins, which are also the main ingredients with bioactivity. The fermentation process takes approximately 7 days, after which the mycelium powder is available after drying.
